I Am A Special Child (Phase 2) Motivational Session

I AM A SPECIAL CHILD (Phase 2) – Motivational session, organized by the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte was successfully held on the 1st of December from 03:30 pm to 05:00 pm, at The Sir James and Lady Peiris Cheshire Home, Mount Lavinia, for the differently abled individuals. This session was conducted by a successful differently abled individual, Mr. Ishan Jalill – The Director of Ashinsa which is a non-profit organization working for the empowerment of children and youth with disabilities. Mr. Ishan Jalill is also a differently abled individual who has brought glory to our motherland despite the challenges he has faced as he is visually impaired. The session was focused on motivating the differently abled with the idea that being differently abled is not a reason for them to step back from achieving their dreams. The club had prior communication with the home and speakers to ensure everything went as planned. The members were at the venue by 03: 00 pm and supplied the home with some needful stuff including beverages and eatables. The individuals were gathered around 03:30 pm and the event was conducted till 05:00 pm. This was an interactive session where the individuals were questioned and were asked given some encouraging advices to stay active. The session covered on topics related to uplifting self esteem and showing the hidden talents to the world to recognize and rejoice. Following the session some of the differently abled entertained us with their singing talents too and thereby the club spent a good evening time at the Cheshire home. A positive feedback was received from the participants who were present during the session and the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte was requested by the Director of Cheshire Home to conduct many more sessions in future. The project was also supported by I AM A SPECIAL CHILD’s PR team who came up with flyers and were involved in Pre PR and Post PR activities.
