Mission Cyber Bullying

Cyber bullying is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. Over the past decade cyber  bullying has rapidly increased, especially among teenagers, as the digital sphere has expanded and the  technology has advanced. Even though there are several laws institutions and regulatory bodies to control  cyber crimes in Sri Lanka, crimes related to cyber bullying has not been addressed on a large scale and has  not been given enough identity for its depth.

In order to create an awareness on how cyber bullying has impacted on the Sri Lankan communities and to  give a better understanding on how we can eliminate this issue, the Rotaract Clubs of Pearl Island &  Wellawatte joined hands in launching a brand new initiative - Mission Cyber bullying. The first phase of Mission Cyber bullying mainly focused on understanding what cyber bullying is and how  commonly cyber bullying is carried out in the Sri Lankan context. This included awareness campaigns being  carried out via social media on social media behavior and the measurement of the yardstick to which the  usage of social media has to work.
