Way Forward

‘Way forward’ was a project idea which was thought up last year by our Rotaract club as an initiative to  strengthen our club. The strength of a club depends on the number of members it has as well as how  exceptional the members perform. Even though most members join the Rotaract movement with a minimum  knowledge of what Rotaract is, it was identified that they do not possess the knowledge of key details of the  Rotaract movement and their respective clubs. So in order to educate the existing members in the club as  well as the prospective members and to use this project as a platform to recruit more members to the club  this project became an annual project being conducted by our club every year. During the planning stage it  was decided to conduct a physical session, but due to the prevailing situation the session was transferred to  an online platform and the committee decided to ensure that the virtual session which is to be held will be as  equal as a physical session. The session was conducted on the 25th of October via the ‘Google meet’  Platform from 6.15pm onwards by Rtr. Christina and Rtr. Frank. Since this event was also a member  recruiting event it started off with a creative ice breaker session, Personality Disorder, where the participants.

who have confirmed to attend the event would be paired and they will have to get to know each other before  the start of the session. Then during the ice breaker session they were asked to introduce each other. After  the Ice breaker session was over Rtr. Frank conducted the session about the Rotaract movement. This  session included contents such as; A detail description of what is Rotary, Rotaract and Interact movements  and the correlations between the 3 movements, the difference between the Rotary, Rotaract and Interact  movements, the structure of a Rotaract club and the Rotaract district, the description of each of the Board of  Directors and the introduction of the members’ presently serving in that position, the common abbreviations  and the designations used in the Rotaract movement as well as their full form. The next session was  conducted by Rtr. Christina and Rtr. Frank on the club avenues. They both took turns in explaining each  club's avenues and the past as well as present projects in the particular avenues which the club has done.  When the club avenues were explained, the respective directors were asked to turn on their cameras and  introduce themselves. After this session was completed a Kahoot quiz link was shared with the participants  to test their knowledge on the areas which are covered. After the quiz section was completed Rtr. Christina  and Rtr. Frank conducted a session on ‘how to plan a project.’ They explained about the steps that need to be  taken from planning the project to executing it successfully. They also went on to explain the importance of  Public relation activities which will impact on the project’s reach among the community. After the session  the members who were present were divided into 6 groups and they were each given a Rotary Focus Area to  come up with a project idea. This session was conducted by Rtr. Evelyn. Each team was given a span of 15  minutes to work on the project planning and was asked to pitch their project ideas. Once each presentation  was completed Rtr. Evelyn gave suggestions and comments on how that project idea could be improved and  executed. The event concluded at 9.30pm.
