Navaratri 2019

Navaratri 2019 by the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte, was successfully held for all the Rotaractors across the district, on October 08, 2019. The project started off with religious observances at Vajira Temple and thereafter followed by refreshments at Dwaraka Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, Colombo 04 from 06.00 PM onwards.

The primary goal set behind organizing Navaratri 2019 was to build a cultural collaboration between the Rotaract Clubs present in the district. The project was held on the last day of the festive of nine nights of Durga. The members of Rotaract Club of Wellawatte guided the invitees through the religious observances, making them feel part of the celebrations.

After concluding the religious observances all the invitees headed over for refreshments at Dwaraka’s. Few of the members arrived early at Dwaraka’s to make the preliminary arrangements to cater the refreshments upon the arrival of the invitees. Invitees were offered homemade delicious festive foods such as Wade, Kesari, Pongal, Aval, Mothagam and Kadala, all prepared by our very own members of the club. Navaratri 2019 laid a milestone by embarking ethnic diversity by invoking the presence of over 80 Rotaractors who follow different religions but truly marking their identity as Sri Lankans.

Behind the success of this Club Service project, stood our enthusiastic club members backed by the project chair person who coordinated everything smoothly. A sense of accomplishment was felt as a result of the efforts put in by all throughout, both before and during the event.
