The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte was held on July 16, 2019 at The Mount Lavinia Hotel. It was a success with over 50 individuals in attendance. The members came together to develop new relationships, share ideas and catch up with each other. This meeting also marked the appointment of the new members of the Board for the year 2019/2020.
Following the lighting of the oil lamp, the Rotaract formalities were followed. The Immediate Past President Rtr. Kayalvili Mathavaram addressed the gathering thereafter. She took us through her journey in the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte for the year and she went on to give the members a glimpse of her year as the President. She stressed the importance of working together and encouraged all Rotaractors to take part in every possible project as it brings joy to those we help as well as uplifts one’s own skills. The Secretary, Rtr. Nijanthan Jeyakumar, gave a speech on the various projects that were conducted in the previous year along with a video.
The much awaited appointment of the new President of the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte for the year of 2019/2020 took place thereafter. The outgoing President collared her successor Rtr. Kumararuban Nanthagopal amidst the eager applause of the past and present club members. Thereafter the brand new President addressed the gathering by highlighting this year's theme as "Live the change". Afterwards, the new Board members for the year of 2019/2020 were introduced by the President. Following that our very own District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Past President Krishan Balaji addressed the gathering. From there on the floor was opened for felicitation where our peer Rotaract Club members came forward and congratulated the outgoing board for completing a successful year and also the incoming board for the upcoming year.
Finally, President Rtr. Kumararuban Nanthagopal terminated the Annual General Meeting of the RotaractClub of Wellawatte for fellowship. It was a productive evening with some solid plans for the year 2019-2020. We sincerely thank all our well-wishers for their words of encouragement and wish the President and the members of Board for a year full of success and great accomplishments.
